Functions of Secondary Education Department :

1.
 School Recognition :- According to the master plan and government decisions, the proposal from various institutions are collected and verified by District Committee and forwarded to the government for the recognition.
2.
School Inspection for sanctioning the grant:- After completion of four years of the school its investigate by the officials praposal is verified and scrutinised by District Committee and recomanded to Government.
3.
Enrollment Assessment :- In August, enrollment assessment is done of all aided, unaided and permanently unaided schools in the required manner.
4.
Staff Approval :- At block level, camps are organized and according to enrollment staff is approved.
5.
Division Approval :- If the student strength is increased more than requirement in a class , the new divisions of those classes in all schools in district are proposed for recognition.
6.
Co-education :- According to government policy, the proposals of Girls High Schools is recommanded to government.
7.
School Migration :- School migration proposals to be sent to government after receiving the forms from High Schools as per government criteria.
8.
Individual Approval :- According to the government criteria, teaching and non-teaching staff is nominated..
9.
Transfer Approval :- Many schools run by a particular institution transfer of teachers from school to school.  Such cases are approved.
10.
Non Salary Grant :- In each academic year, after assessment of school, non-salary grant is approved as per government criteria.
11.
 Examination Department :- Various tests and termend exams are organized.
12.
Correction of Caste, Surname and Date of Birth :- After receiving enough evidences, the record is corrected.
13.
 Board Approval :- Students list of S.S.C. Board of each school is recomanded for the approval by the SSC Board.
14.
 Science Exhibition :- Science exhibition is organized at block and district level.
15.
Training :- Essential training of teachers and principals are organized from time to time according to the government policy.
16.
Late Admission Approval :- This department approves various late admissions at school level due to some unavoidable reasons. 
17.
 Execution of Various Schemes :- Various schemes of High Schools are implemented by this department.
