    Social Welfare Department

    Introduction

    The Social Welfare Department is one of the 14 important departments under Zilla Parishad Latur. The District Social Welfare Officer is the head of this department. The department implements welfare schemes for the benefit of backward classes and persons with disabilities. Its primary goal is to effectively implement various schemes for the educational, economic, and social development of the underprivileged sections of society.

    Vision and Mission
    • To uplift the educational and social living standards of backward classes and persons with disabilities
    • To promote economic development through livelihood opportunities
    • To ensure equal opportunities for all sections of society
    • To utilize 20% of funds for the welfare of backward classes as per government policy
    Objectives and Functions
    • Implementing various schemes for backward classes and persons with disabilities through the Zilla Parishad cess fund
    • Executing schemes of the Social Justice and Special Assistance Department of the Government of Maharashtra
    • Empowering backward classes and persons with disabilities for self-reliance
    • Implementation and monitoring of schemes through the Social Welfare Committee

    5 HP Pump Scheme for Backward Class Farmers in Rural Areas

    • Scheme for Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Nomadic Tribes, Denotified Tribes, and Neo-Buddhists.
    • 5 HP electric pump is provided to backward class farmers in rural areas.
    • Beneficiary must be at least 18 years old.
    • 7/12 and 8A land records are required. Power usage certificate is mandatory.
    • Scheme is implemented under Zilla Parishad funds for the year 2024-25.

    Backward Class Self-Help Group Scheme

    • Women SHGs can apply for group-based businesses like goat farming, pig farming, poultry farming.
    • Eligible groups: Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Nomadic-Denotified Tribes, Neo-Buddhists.
    • Aadhaar card, 7/12, 8A land record, bank account required for all group members.
    • Group registration certificate is mandatory.

    Goat Rearing Scheme for Persons with Disabilities

    • Distribution of 10+1 goats: 10 female goats + 1 male goat for disabled beneficiaries.
    • Beneficiary must have at least 40% or more disability.
    • Medical certificate, disability certificate, Aadhaar card, bank passbook required.
    • The scheme is implemented through the Zilla Parishad Disability Welfare Fund.
