Maharashtra Right to Public Services Act, 2015
The Maharashtra Right to Public Services Act, 2015 was passed to provide notified services to the citizens of Maharashtra in a transparent, efficient, and time-bound manner by the government and its subordinate public authorities. The Act has been in force since 28.04.2015. Its objective is to ensure that citizens receive services easily and within the stipulated timeframe.
To monitor, coordinate, control, and suggest improvements regarding whether these notified services are being delivered to citizens, the Maharashtra State Right to Service Commission has been constituted under this Act. The Commission comprises one Chief Commissioner and six Commissioners. Its headquarters is located at the New Administrative Building, opposite Mantralaya, Mumbai, with regional commissioner offices located at six departmental headquarters.
If eligible citizens do not receive the service within the prescribed time or if it is denied without valid reason, they can file a first and second appeal to higher authorities. If still unsatisfied, they can file a third appeal with the Commission. A defaulting officer may be fined up to ₹5,000 per case. The list of notified services offered by this department is provided in the document linked below.
