    Introduction

    The Health Department of Zilla Parishad Latur is a key department that provides quality and accessible medical services to rural citizens. The District Health Officer is the head of the department and oversees the planning, implementation, and monitoring of all health services and schemes in the district. Latur district has a total of 46 Primary Health Centers and 252 Sub-Centers. Through these, services such as reduction of maternal and infant mortality rates, disease control, family welfare, etc., are delivered.

    Health Department Schemes Information

    1) National Family Welfare Program

    • Women from Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, and BPL families receive ₹600 assistance for sterilization; other women receive ₹250.
    • ₹1451 assistance for male sterilization surgery.

    2) Janani Suraksha Yojana

    • Pregnant women from SC/ST and BPL families receive ₹700 (rural) / ₹600 (urban) for institutional delivery.
    • ₹500 assistance for home deliveries for women from BPL families.
    • ₹1500 assistance for cesarean delivery in approved private hospitals.
    • Display of scheme information and logo on boards of authorized institutions is mandatory.

    3) Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY 2.0)

    • Implemented since 1st January 2017; PMMVY 2.0 is active since April 2023.
    • Benefits available for first and second child; ₹6000 total assistance (credited via DBT).
    • If the second child is a girl, ₹6000 benefit is provided in one installment.
    • In case of twins/triplets, if more than one girl child is born, separate benefits are provided for each as per rules.
