    District Rural Development Agency (DRDA)

    Introduction

    The District Rural Development Agency (DRDA), Zilla Parishad Latur, is a key agency working for the comprehensive development of the rural poor. To ensure effective implementation of centrally sponsored schemes, DRDAs have been established across the state. This agency is registered under the Societies Registration Act 1860 and the Bombay Public Trusts Act 1950.

    Various schemes are implemented to empower the rural poor economically. Through the DRDA, financial assistance is provided to Self-Help Groups (SHGs), and various employment-oriented schemes are carried out to make them self-reliant. The agency operates under the leadership of the Project Director.

    To effectively implement rural development schemes as per the guidelines of the central and state governments.

    Objectives and Functions
    • Implementation of centrally sponsored schemes.
    • Providing benefits to poor families through individual and group schemes.
    • Facilitating livelihood loans for Self-Help Groups.
    • Investment and support in agriculture, animal husbandry, dairy, and small-scale industries.
    • Coordination with Zilla Parishad, Agro Industries Corporation, Cooperative Banks, Commercial Banks, and other agencies.
    Rural Housing and Livelihood Scheme Information

    1) Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana – Gramin

    • Financial assistance up to ₹1,20,000 for house construction.
    • 90 days of employment and wages up to ₹18,000 under MGNREGA.
    • ₹12,000 additional assistance for toilet construction (under Swachh Bharat Mission).
    • Beneficiaries selected based on SECC-2011 (Socio-Economic Caste Census 2011).
    • Planning and fund distribution through transparent systems (Geo Tag, DBT).

    2) Pardhi Housing Scheme

    • State government sponsored housing scheme for the Pardhi community.
    • ₹1,20,000 for house construction, ₹18,000 for livelihood, and ₹12,000 for toilet.
    • Selection based on SECC 2011 and recommendation from Gram Sabha.

    3) Ramai Housing Scheme

    • Housing scheme for Scheduled Castes and Neo-Buddhist communities.
    • ₹1,20,000 subsidy + ₹18,000 employment + ₹12,000 toilet.
    • For those without land, assistance up to ₹50,000 under “Land Purchase Scheme”.

    4) Shabari Housing Scheme

    • Special housing scheme for tribal communities.
    • ₹1,20,000 for house construction + ₹18,000 employment + ₹12,000 toilet.
    • Planning incorporates use of Geo Tag and DBT systems.

    5) Maharashtra State Rural Livelihood Mission (UMED)

    • Economic development through the formation of SHGs for poor and marginalized women.
    • Guidance and funding for financial, social, and skill development.
    • Scheme benefits facilitated through government and banking institutions.
    • Implementation via Community Resource Persons (CRPs) at village level.
