District Water and Sanitation Department
Introduction
District Water and Sanitation Mission is one of the important departments out of the total 14 departments in the Zilla Parishad. The Project Director (District Water and Sanitation Mission) is the head of this department. Training and awareness activities on various topics related to individual toilet construction, public toilet construction, sewage and solid waste management, dung collection, sewage management, plastic waste management and sanitation are implemented through this department.
Objectives
- Important schemes of the Central Government like Swachh Bharat Mission (Gramin) and Jal Jeevan Mission are implemented at the village level through the District Water and Sanitation Mission.
- Under the centrally sponsored scheme Swachh Bharat Mission (Gramin), an individual toilet incentive grant of Rs. 12,000/- is provided to eligible beneficiaries through this department. Also, public toilet construction and solid waste and sewage management projects are implemented at the village level.
- The Jal Jeevan Mission, a centrally sponsored scheme, provides individual tap connections to families without individual tap connections.
- Training and awareness activities on various topics related to sanitation are implemented through the District Water and Sanitation Mission.
